I was so mad this morning after listing to Q94… tell me what you think.9




This is the letter that I sent to the manegement at Q 94:

 

Hello,
My name is Rebecca Wood,  I have been a long time fan of Q 94, listening since I was in elementary school (I am 26 now).  I never thought I would be one of “those people”, the ones who call in (or write in this case) and complain about something they heard on the radio.  But this morning the show was grossly upsetting. 
I am referring to the “sorority prank”  the girl that “fried” her roommates goldfish… this was so horrible in itself.  I truly could not believe that you were talking about such a horrible act, a crime really, in such a casual manner, like it didn’t even matter.
And then for Darrin to mention that she should find out if her roommate has a dog & wanting to know when the beach barbeque would be.  I was truly disgusted.  Maybe you do not realize it, but you are role models for children of all ages- role models should NEVER promote cruelty to animals.

    THAT WAS VERY MEAN OF HER TO DO THAT AND TO RETALIATE BY TRYING TO HURT ANOTHER ANIMAL IS MORE CRUEL. EVEN THOUGHT I DON’T LIKE FISH I DO LIKE SMALL DOGS. THAT WAS VERY CRUEL. AND SOMEONE SHOULD CALL ANIMAL PATROL………………LOL. NO BUT BEING SERIOUS, THAT WAS VERY MEAN.

    I thought it was only fair to give Darrin form Q 94’s response:

    Hey Rebecca,

    I think that this is one of those things that often happens with radio, you heard ‘part’ of a conversation.

    I said to the girl that called up and admitted to doin that to the Goldfish: “How would YOU like it if someone did that to your dog?” and went from there…

    I own a dog and a cat and would never condone eating them…

    I am sorry, I must have misunderstood. I was pretty sure that I heard you say, you should find out if she has a dog & then you asked her when the beach barbeque would be, implying that you would have her kill her roommates dog in retaliation for her fish.

    The bottom line is, when you are in a position of respect you should be mindful of what you say. Too many young people get the idea that violence is Ok. I just did not think that it was right that you seemed to be supporting cruelty to animals on an AM radio show.
